When is it Time to Get a Disabled Lift? Part Eight

30 September 2011

In other words if you need to be 'rescued' from the stairs, then you might well be endangering your partner too and they might cause themselves a slip disk or even to fall down the stairs themselves. Likewise this also puts you in further danger. If you have someone coming to visit likewise – do you really want to put them through the trauma of seeing you fall down the stairs, or do you really want to have to call them in the middle of the night because you're stuck?

And there are other circumstances where you might be more likely to have these problems. Say if you've been drinking, then suddenly the already difficult task of getting up the stairs can seem impossible and an incline lift would look very appealing. Likewise if you're overly tired, or if you're suffering from another pain. A sudden twinge from something else could be all it takes to make you fall – and if you are suffering from any other conditions than can cause attacks, fainting etc – then any of these will be much worse on the stairs. If you have high blood pressure for instance to go along with arthritis and back pain, then an incline lift is a very good idea.
