Wheelchair lift – Making life easier for those who need it!

26 November 2011

A wheelchair lift, commonly referred to as a platform lift is a lift used to help wheelchair user’s move between different floors or levels in a building. This lift can be fitted into any public building as well as in homes to cater for the needs of the elderly and those with reduced physical mobility. The lift is built in a way to accommodate a wheelchair, and it also comes with other features such as remote controls to suit all the needs of a disabled person. Although this lift is a bit smaller than the convectional lift, it is still large enough to accommodate the user and an extra person such as a caregiver.

Smaller versions of a wheel chair lift are used to help disabled people to enter or exit a vehicle and this has helped most of them to maintain their independence and move around freely. There are several types of wheelchair lifts but this should not confuse you when purchasing one of them, rather it should present various choices from which you can choose from and thus get the best lift to suit your needs. There are those that are used for short distances such as 1 meter while others are suitable for moving up or down a number of floors.
