The Difference Between a Platform Lift and a Ramp

Platform lifts and ramps are two different ways to achieve the same goal. In other words they both will help raise a object to a certain level. However there are several notable differences between both objects. For one, the platform ramp is a machine and you can adjust it to many different levels. The ramp can only be bought with a certain height so you must make sure you know the right height of the level you need to get to. In other words if you will need to get a handicap person who is in a wheelchair into the back of your van you will need to measure the distance from the back of the van to the floor. Once you know that distance you can purchase a ramp that will allow the handicap person to wheel his or her wheelchair into the back of your vehicle with as little trouble as possible. On the other hand if you had a platform lift installed in the back of your van you would not need to measure anything because the platform lift can rise to many different levels. So there are two key differences between a platform lift and a ramp; one is a machine which can rise to many levels and one is not a machine which can only rise to a certain level.
