Let’s make life easier with dumb waiters!

26 November 2011

Dumb waiters are small goods elevators or lifts that are intended for transporting objects rather than people. These types of lifts are common in modern structures including private homes and commercial buildings such as restaurants and laundries. Also known as service lifters in the modern world, these lifts are designed in such a way that installing and cleaning them is quite easy. Although they are not as common as other types of elevators, dumb waiters are used in various companies to make work efficient and smooth. They are much smaller than most passenger lifts and thus do not require much space and can be more discreet.

These types of lifts are most common in hotels and restaurants whose kitchen is found on a different floor from the dining area. They are also useful in hotels to ensure that the food served does not become cold before it gets to the customer. Just like typical lifts, these lifts come with several safety features including emergency alarms and fire response systems, and can serve up to 6 floors. Because they are not common, their demand is also quite low and hence their prices can appear quite high, although this will depend on the manufacturer. Other factors that determine its cost include the model, size and amount of installation work required
