Home Lifts – Making Homes Disabled Friendly

09 December 2011

Home lifts for the disabled

Home lifts are provided in residences that house people with mobility impairment, which prevents them from climbing stairs. These lifts are available in different sizes and can be fitted in any place in the house to ensure that it aids disabled people move between floors. Home lifts can be of two kinds – manually operated, which is with the help of a lever or electric lift, which as the name suggests, works on electricity. Further, you can choose between open and close home lifts as well. It is safer to use closed lifts wherever possible because they are safer. However, in homes, a lot of people prefer using platform lifts because they take up lesser space and the home looks more spacious.

Different uses of home lifts

Home lifts are used in porches and entrance. Usually, a mobility lift or a home lift is located near the stairs and shares a landing with the conventional stairs. Based on the architecture of your home, you can choose the number of floors that you want to traverse. Home lifts are available up to two floors height. Outdoor home lifts need to be chosen with care because they have to be resistant to environmental conditions such as moisture and heat.
