Dumb Waiters and Service Lifts

07 February 2011

The service lift you choose will depend on what your business needs it for. At one end of the scale there is use within hotels and restaurants to get primarily food up to where it is needed from kitchens which are often in a basement, also known as dumb waiters these have come a long way from the pulley systems you will still see in some older establishments, computer controlled and made from food grade steel they are designed to be easy to clean and easy to install with minimum building work as well.

These lifts can be used by hotels for laundry as well though and can cover up to 6 floors so dirty laundry can be sent down and clean laundry up.

Offices can use similar sized lifts for small items including post and internal paperwork, even supplies up to 500 kg to save on having to make trips backwards and forwards and get items to the right person on any floor quickly.
Retail stores may well use service lifts as well where they have stockrooms on different floors, shops such as shoe shops who need sizes sent to the shop floor or catalogue stores may particularly benefit.

Industrial use as well can take advantage of a service lift for moving items such as parts of up to 500 kgs and the lift could integrate with other systems such as conveyors.

These applications mean time spent by staff moving items around is drastically cut saving a great deal of money for employers and making the business as a whole more efficient and quicker to serve customer’s.
